“Money Does Not Respond to Those Who Chase It” – Archbishop Duncan-Williams

LOB News I http://www.livingourbible.com I Wednesday 7th January 2026

During the Kairos Experience 2025 Watch Night Service held at Action Chapel International, Spintex Road, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams delivered a direct and thought-provoking teaching on money—how it works, how it grows, and why many believers struggle financially despite prayer and hard work.

Speaking candidly to thousands gathered in the auditorium and those connected online, the Archbishop challenged common assumptions about wealth, insisting that money does not respond to desperation or pursuit but to understanding and mastery.

“Money does not respond to those who chase it,” he said. “Money responds to masters, not servants. If you serve money, it will control you. But if you master it, it will respond to you.”

He explained that many people remain financially stagnant because they approach money from a position of need rather than knowledge and command. According to him, money is governed by principles, not emotions.

“Money is not for spending,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasized. “Money is a vehicle, a medium of exchange. You don’t buy things because you have money; you buy because there is a need. When you spend money just because you have it, you don’t understand money.”

Drawing attention to the difference between needs and wants, he warned that abusing money through impulsive spending reflects ignorance of its true purpose.

“Ignorance of the value of a thing will always lead to abuse,” he noted. “And many people abuse money because they don’t understand it.”

The Archbishop also addressed the spiritual dimension of wealth, stressing that God’s empowerment to create wealth is purpose-driven, not pleasure-driven.

“God gives you power to get wealth for a reason,” he said, referencing Scripture. “It is not just to enjoy life. It is to establish His covenant. Until your motive for money is right, you will struggle to keep it—even if you get it.”

He further explained that financial increase is closely tied to mindset and attitude, describing money as an “energy” that reacts to a person’s internal orientation.

“Stinginess is a mentality of lack, and generosity is a mentality of abundance,” he said. “If you think lack, you will attract lack. If you think abundance, abundance will respond to you.”

Archbishop Duncan-Williams concluded by urging believers to move away from emotional spending and adopt disciplined, purpose-driven financial thinking as they enter the new year.

“2026 will not change your money,” he warned. “Only your understanding, discipline, and alignment with God’s principles will.”

The message set a sober but empowering tone for the crossover service, calling worshippers to approach the new year not just with prayers for provision, but with wisdom for stewardship and multiplication.
