Addressing a common misconception in Christian circles, Pastor Mensa Otabil cautioned believers against assuming that prophetic declarations automatically produce results without personal action.
“The word only came to alert you to something that must happen in your life, but you are not a passenger—you are a partaker,” he said. Using practical examples, he explained that faith demands alignment between what is spoken and how one lives.
“If you believe God will give you long life, you don’t overspeed and refuse to wear a seat belt,” he remarked. “That word over your life must inspire an action that is in consonance with what has been spoken.”
Pastor Otabil urged Christians to treat prophetic words as a charge that requires responsibility, discipline, and daily obedience. Without this, he warned, people risk blaming God for unmet expectations that were never acted upon.
