International Bible teacher Joyce Meyer has delivered a powerful message of hope to millions struggling with financial pressure, declaring emphatically: “You can live debt-free.” Speaking on her programme Enjoying Everyday Life, Meyer challenged viewers to rethink their relationship with money.
“Debt is very oppressive. It’s a very heavy burden,” she said, urging believers to embrace patience, persistence, and discipline. Drawing from 1 Timothy 6, she reminded audiences that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,” clarifying that money itself is not evil but must be handled wisely.
Meyer stressed that instant gratification is a major barrier to financial freedom. “A person can never be debt-free if they’re addicted to instant gratification,” she warned. Instead, she encouraged viewers to save before spending and avoid using credit for items they cannot pay off immediately.
Referencing biblical wisdom, she added, “You can’t just expect money, you have to respect money.” Her message blends spiritual conviction with practical strategies, including budgeting, generosity, and long-term planning.
