Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the The Church of Pentecost, has issued a passionate and timely call to Christians across Africa to rethink the relevance and impact of the Church in society.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the respected church leader confronted what he described as a troubling paradox: the growing presence of churches amid worsening societal challenges.
“We live in a time where the presence of the church is increasing, yet the challenges confronting our African society—corruption, moral decay, and systemic failure—continue to grow,” he wrote, raising the piercing question from the public: “Where is the Church?”
Referencing Jesus’ description of believers as “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world,” Apostle Nyamekye noted that the world is justified in questioning the Church’s impact. “If we claim to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, then the world has every right to ask where the light is when darkness prevails,” he stated.
He identified what he called a “dangerous dichotomy” in modern Christianity—the separation of Sunday worship from weekday conduct. “We receive the Word on Sunday, but we fail to translate it into our workplaces on Monday,” he lamented, insisting that national development is deeply tied to the character of citizens. “The crisis we face today is not primarily an economic one; it is a moral problem.”
Challenging superficial spirituality, he added, “If the Holy Spirit cannot transform your character, what can anointing oil do for you?”
Apostle Nyamekye emphasized that salvation is foundational but must lead to societal transformation. “Until our ‘Amen’ on Sunday becomes ‘Integrity’ on Monday, our nation will continue to suffer,” he declared.
His message ends as a rallying cry: believers must arise as true agents of God’s Kingdom—transforming homes, offices, and institutions with lives of integrity and influence.
