ACCRA, GHANA: On a day typically marked by flowers and romantic gestures, members of ICGC The Royal Temple, Awoshie–Anyah, chose to express love in a far more enduring way. Over the weekend, on Valentine’s Day, Saturday 14th February 2026, the church— as part of activities marking its 28th Anniversary Celebration, which fell on 1st February 2026 — made a significant donation of food and essential supplies valued at over GHC50,000 to the Akropong School for the Blind.
Under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Samuel Awuku-Gyekye, who also serves as the Regional Overseer of ICGC Accra West Region, the donation was carried out as a collective initiative of the church community in fulfillment of its social responsibility mandate. The gesture formed a key part of the church’s anniversary activities and demonstrated its unwavering commitment to practical Christian service.
Running a school for persons with visual impairment remains a demanding responsibility, especially in a country where limited resources must be stretched across numerous national priorities. Institutions such as the Akropong School for the Blind depend heavily on consistent support from faith-based organizations, corporate bodies, and benevolent individuals to ensure the effective running of the school and the proper welfare of students. In recognition of this ongoing need, The Royal Temple chose to celebrate its anniversary not only with thanksgiving services but also with tangible acts of compassion.

Items donated included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, soft drinks, packs of sachet water, toilet rolls, paper hand towels, sanitary pads, gallons of liquid soap, washing powder, bar soap, tomato paste, bread, and boxes of Tom Brown. The donation, estimated at over Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC50,000), is expected to significantly support the feeding, hygiene, and general upkeep of students and staff.
The initiative highlights the church’s philosophy of holistic ministry—proclaiming the Gospel while also demonstrating Christ’s love through action. For The Royal Temple, community outreach is not a side activity but an expression of faith in practice.

This is not the first time the church has extended support to the Akropong School for the Blind. During its 25th Anniversary celebration three years ago, the assembly similarly donated items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to assist in the day-to-day operations of the school, underscoring a consistent pattern of engagement rather than a one-time charitable act.
ICGC The Royal Temple, located at Anyah Market in Awoshie, is a branch of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC). Over the years, the church has remained devoted to spiritual growth, leadership development, and meaningful community impact initiatives.
As Ghana continues to navigate economic and social challenges, such faith-driven interventions provide critical support to vulnerable institutions. The 28th Anniversary celebration of The Royal Temple will therefore be remembered not only as a milestone of gratitude to God but also as a bold demonstration that love—especially on Valentine’s Day—is most powerful when expressed through generosity and service.
