At International Palace Church, during a thought-provoking dialogue hosted by Rev. Dr. Bernard Mensa Adams, Mensa Otabil addressed a deeper theological issue flowing from the discussion on Eden and the Kingdom: If Eden was lost, where do we now find God?
He framed the central theme of Scripture with a striking question:
“Beginning from Eden, after Eden, the main theme of the Bible… it is answering one major question. Where is God? Where can we meet Him? Where can we find Him?”
Pastor Otabil then introduced a critical concept often misunderstood by believers — progressive revelation.
“The Bible is a progressive revelation… God reveals His truth in the Bible gradually and progressively until it finally ends in Christ.”
Using a powerful analogy, he explained that Scripture unfolds like revealing a face step by step:
“It’s true, it’s accurate, but it’s incomplete.”
Each stage in the Old Testament was real, but partial. The full image, he said, appears in Jesus Christ.
To make it even clearer, he used what many described as the unforgettable “jotter” illustration:
“When you are working a math problem… you do it in the jotter until you find the right answer… Now the problem with many of us is that after the answer has been found we like the jotter more than the answer.”
According to Pastor Otabil, altars, sacrifices, mountains, and encounters throughout the Old Testament were preparatory steps — not the final destination.
“All this journey leading to one man… I will draw all men unto me.”
He concluded with a profound declaration that brought the entire teaching into focus:
“Where is God now? He is in Jesus… When you find Him you have found Eden.”
In one sweeping theological arc, Pastor Otabil moved the audience from Genesis to Calvary, presenting Christ not merely as part of the story, but as its fulfillment — the new Eden where heaven and earth meet permanently.
