LOB Team I http://www.livingourbible.com I Monday 16th March 2026
On Sunday, 15th March 2026, renowned Bible teacher and General Overseer of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Mensa Otabil, officially launched a new four-part preaching series on Spiritual Warfare, themed Kingdom Warfare.
Delivering the opening message at ICGC Christ Temple East, Pastor Otabil introduced the first installment titled “Darkness and Light,” setting the tone for a season of biblical reflection, spiritual empowerment, and preparation toward Easter.
Introducing the Kingdom Warfare Series

Pastor Otabil explained that the new teaching series is designed to help believers understand spiritual warfare from a comprehensive biblical perspective. While many Christians are familiar with the concept, he noted that Scripture presents the subject in a deeper and more structured way. Over the next four weeks, the congregation will explore the nature of spiritual conflict, the assurance of victory, and how believers must engage in the battle with confidence and faith.
Genesis as the Foundation of Spiritual Warfare
Using Genesis chapter one as his main text, Pastor Otabil emphasized that the Bible introduces the dynamics of spiritual warfare from the very beginning. He pointed out that darkness was present upon the face of the deep, yet the Spirit of God was also present and active. This, he explained, teaches believers that God’s presence never disappears even when circumstances appear dark or uncertain.
The Utterance of God’s Word Brings Light
A key highlight of the sermon was the power of God’s spoken word. Pastor Otabil noted that light did not appear randomly but manifested when God declared, “Let there be light.” This demonstrates that divine intervention often comes through the release of God’s Word. Believers, he encouraged, must learn to align their lives with Scripture and boldly declare God’s promises in the midst of challenges.
Light and Darkness Are Not the Same

Expounding on Genesis 1:4–5, he stressed that God intentionally separated light from darkness, showing that both realities may exist but are not equal. Light is declared good, and believers are called to walk in that light. While seasons of darkness may still appear in life, they do not define the believer’s destiny.
Christ the Greater Light, Believers the Lesser Lights
In a powerful teaching moment, Pastor Otabil described the sun as the “greater light” and the moon as the “lesser light,” drawing a spiritual parallel. Jesus Christ, he said, is the greater light who possesses inherent authority over darkness. Believers function as lesser lights who reflect His power. Spiritual warfare, therefore, is not fought through human strength, religious rituals, or dependence on personalities, but through a living connection with Christ and the faithful application of His Word.
The Assurance of Final Victory
Referencing the book of Revelation, Pastor Otabil concluded by showing that the biblical story ultimately moves from the presence of darkness in Genesis to the total reign of light in eternity. He encouraged believers to remain steadfast, confident that every spiritual battle ends in victory through Christ.
