At the Doulos Conference 2026 hosted by Pastor Mensa Otabil at ICGC Christ Temple East, Dr. Sam Chand, leadership consultant, delivered a critical warning to pastors about the danger of consuming too many conflicting influences.
During a live Q&A session, he addressed a growing trend among leaders who “pick a bit from here… and a bit from there.”
Dr. Chand clarified that he is not against learning from multiple sources but stressed alignment as the key factor. “I’m not against mixing voices… but I do have a strong resistance to voices that do not connect with each other,” he said.
He emphasised that leaders must prioritise growth over emotional stimulation. “If you mix too many voices, you’re going to get swelling, but not growth,” he warned.
According to him, true leadership development requires intentional selection of voices that align doctrinally, relationally, and morally. He urged pastors to evaluate voices based on long-term impact rather than popularity or trend.
The session sparked deep reflection among participants navigating the pressures of digital-age leadership, where access to global voices is easier than ever. Dr. Chand’s insights challenged leaders to be discerning and intentional in shaping their spiritual and leadership influences.
