American singer, songwriter, producer, and actress Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, recently launched her solo album dubbed Renaissance. Reading about her career journey in Harper’s Bazaar magazine, it’s been a steady history of hard work, determination, and passion to rise to fame and global dominance with her pop music.
My major concern with her new album is the real message behind it. It is sensual, seductive, sexual, and satanic. She is on a quest to enroll many people in her satanic stage work.
Real Influence of Beyoncé
Beyonce’s level of influence cannot be overstated. She has a cross-cultural global fan base. Let’s explore her real influence in the media world:
- 273 million followers on Instagram.
- 56 million followers on Facebook.
- 13.7 million followers on Twitter.
- In 2014, Beyonce topped Time magazine’s The 100 Most Influential People list ahead of politicians, sportsmen, billionaires, business founders, and CEOs in the world.
- In 2018, BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour named her music’s most powerful woman in their Power List.”
Assessing her influence, Harper’s Bazaar magazine noted,
“After more than two decades in the spotlight, Beyoncé has become much more than a pop icon. She’s a cultural force who has routinely defied expectations and transformed the way we understand the power of art to change how we see ourselves and each other. But at 40, she feels like she’s just scratched the surface.”
Without blinking, we can say that Beyonce’s influence on people around the world surpasses that of nations’ population.
What does Beyonce promote in her new album?
In this section, I want us to work through four (4) real messages behind Beyonce’s new album (and others). As a Christian, I will use the lens of Scriptures to expose us to the harmful messages her lyrics carry.
In the words of her Sister Sasha, “Beyonce is gripped by a spirit so powerful, it even has a name.”
#1. Sensuality
The first thing we can notice about Beyonce’s musical style is that it is meant to leave a lasting impression of sensuality. Her stage craft projects a half-naked woman who does not care who watches or listens to her. She is absolutely in a world of her own.
No wonder in Alien Superstar, she said,
“I’m one of one, I’m number one, I’m the only one
Don’t even waste your time trying to compete with me (don’t do it)
No one else in this world can think like me (true)”
According to Got Questions, sensuality is “a total devotion to the gratification of the senses, to the exclusion of soul and spirit.” Beyonce wants the world to consume her contents of sensuality when she herself is calm and decent offstage.
Now, let’s consider some of the sensual lyrics in her tracks:
In Church Girl, Beyonce writes;
“Twerk that ass like you came up out the South, girl (ooh, ooh)
I said, now drop it like a thotty, drop it like a thotty (you bad)
Bad girl actin’ naughty, church girl, don’t hurt nobody”
In Cozy, she states;
“Damn, I love the burning of the dagger
From the words that you say (fuck, yeah)
Dancin’ in the mirror, kiss my scars
Because I love what they made (ooh, yeah)”
In the article ‘Renaissance’ Review: Beyoncé Gets Filthy On The Dance Album Of 2022‘, Nicholas noted,
“And don’t even get us started on “Plastic Off the Sofa,” the most sensual ode to her husband since 2011’s “Dance for You.” After breathlessly crooning, “I know you had it rough growing up, but that’s OK,” Beyoncé growls, “I like it rough.””
The above are samples of her lyrics that make it sensual to the core. She invites her audience to a lifestyle of sensuality.
According to Galatians 5:19-21 sensuality is as a result of the works of the flesh which the Bible speaks against,
“19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
We are commanded by God to rather walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) instead of walking in the flesh to produce the aforestated works of the flesh. Therefore, the more we consume her music, the more we feed our sensual desires that war against the Spirit.
#2. Seductive
The second important aspect of Beyonce’s music is that it invites her listeners into the world of sexual temptation. You are let into a world where you can satisfy your sexual lust.
Seduction means “a tempting or attractive thing”.
In Alien Superstar, she wrote;
“We dress a certain way, we walk a certain way
We talk a certain way, we-we paint a certain way
We, we make love a certain way, you know?
All of these things we do in a different, unique, specific way that is personally ours”
In Cuff It, Beyonce writes;
“I feel like fallin’ in love (fallin’ in love)
I’m in the mood to fuck somethin’ up (tonight, I’m fuckin’ somethin’ up, baby)
I need some drink in my cup (I need a drink), hey (pour me a drink)
I’m in the mood to fuck somethin’ up (I’m in the mood to fuck somethin’ up)
These and many more unprintable vulgar words permeate her current album. She is like Jezebel inviting you to sin with her. She is eventually telling her fans that it is ok to fulfill the desires of the flesh that burns in their heart.
But the Bible admonishes us to avoid seduction of any kind. Solomon’s mother advised him in Proverbs 1:10 that, “My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.”
The finest words of advice on seduction are found in Proverbs 2:16-19:
“16 To deliver you from the immoral woman,
From the seductress who flatters with her words,
17 Who forsakes the companion of her youth,
And forgets the covenant of her God.
18 For her house leads down to death,
And her paths to the dead;
19 None who go to her return,
Nor do they regain the paths of life.”
Let’s be ware of Beyonce’s seductive music.
#3. Sexual
The last but one agenda of Beyonce is to promote sexual immorality. Her lyrics and videos actively encourages people to be engage in sexual immorality. It is what superstars do on stage that their fans copy and do in real life.
In Alien Superstar she wrote,
“I got pearls beneath my legs, my lips, my hands, my hips (U-N-I-Q-U-E)
I got diamonds beneath my thighs where his ego will find bliss
Can’t find an ocean deep that can’t compete with this cinnamon kiss (U-N-I-Q-U-E)
Fire beneath your feet, music when you speak, you’re so unique”
In an article on Wikipedia commenting on Beyonce’s new album, it states,
“The lyrics are strongly hedonistic, discussing sex, joy, and self-worth.”
Writing on How Beyoncé’s Sexually Liberated “Church Girl” Helped Me Confront Religious Trauma, Hannah V. Sawyerr wrote about someone’s experience when she narrated,
“Beyonce’s “Church Girl” invited me to continue to unravel toxic beliefs around my body in a way that was fun, sexy and to be frank–pleasantly twerkable. Proudly proclaiming lyrics like, “I was born free,” Beyoncé fiercely combats the shame surrounding our bodies and sexuality, shame that is often promoted rather than denounced within the church. While I’m sure that there is an ongoing list of saved and sanctified folk that would condemn the song for being raunchy or blasphemous, for people with stories like mine, the song is a celebration of all the parts of myself that were once demonized.”
In ‘Renaissance’ review: Beyoncé gets filthy on the dance album of 2022, Nicholas Hautman stated, “Beyoncé has always been a “naughty girl,” but she’s absolutely filthy on her new album.”
Toure wrote in the magazine Rolling Stone that,
“Beyonce has become a crossover sex symbol a la Halle Berry, a black girl who’s not so overwhelmingly Nubian that white people don’t appreciate her beauty. She’s what Janet Jackson used to be: the tasteful sex symbol who’s giving you R&B-flavored pop hits and state-of-the-art videos, tours and movies, too.”
In the story of Joseph in the Bible, when Mrs. Portiphar enticed him to sleep with her, he fled from her. That’s what we must do because the Bible commands us to flee sexual immorality.
In Genesis 39:7-8, 11-12, the Bible says,
“7 And it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, “Lie with me.”
8 But he refused…
11 But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, 12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.
We must refuse and flee sexual immorality.
#4. Satanic
Add everything together, Beyonce’s music is satanic. It is so because everything mentioned above goes against the perfect will of God. She encourages people to freely sin, indulge in lust, pleasure and care less about what other people say.
In Cozy, she speaks of herself or someone else being a god when she writes,
“She’s a god, she’s a hero
She survived all she been through
Confident, damn, she lethal
Might I suggest you don’t fuck with my sis
‘Cause she comfortable”
Let’s now use Church Girl as a case study of how satanic she is. In this particular track, she encourages Christian ladies to sin on Saturday and show up in church on Sunday.
In Church Girl Beyonce writes,
“I’m finally on the other side, I finally found the urge to smile
Swimmin’ through the oceans of tears we cried (tears that we’ve cried)
You know you got church in the morning (the morning)
But you’re doin’ God’s work, you’re goin’ in
She ain’t tryna hurt nobody
She is tryna do the best she can
Happy on her own, with her friends, without a man”
In What’s The Real Meaning Of Church Girl By Beyoncé? Here’s What We Think, Treva Bowdoin wrote,
“The song celebrates the agency of a woman who has broken free from the constraints of societal expectations about how a “church girl” should behave. She’s unbothered by what anyone thinks and is totally feeling herself.”
In an article on Beyoncé: Saint or Sinner? Khaled Diab cited a statement by the Yuinon, a movement that seeks, “to reach, rescue and redeem youth and young adults”. They complained that the R&B star is a bad role model for impressionable youth:
“Young girls that look up to Beyoncé will think it’s acceptable to be in church worshiping teary-eyed on Sunday then frolicking, bootyliciously for a video shoot in some Daisy Dukes the next day.”
In answering the question: Why do people believe that Beyonce worships the devil?, Tim Wright answers on Quora that,
“Because she uses satanic symbolism. She emulates and promotes the ‘Do What Thou Wilt’ motto – which is the satanic motto. She talks about becoming possessed during performances. Everything about her performances radiates evil.”
Beyonce is obviously under the influence of Satan to entice a lot of people with sin. The Bible says that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
What must Christians do with her music?
One advice is fitting: Avoid her music!
There is enough good soul lifting music online to help you grow in Christ instead of saturating your heart with filthy contents.
In Ephesians 5:18-19, Paul teaches that we must, “…be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
We are never commanded to fill our soul with music that will grief the Holy Spirit in us. The more we consume worldly music, the more our soul will be drawn to the world at the expense of our Spirit man. Jesus said if one of your eyes cause you to sin, cut it off (Matthew 5:29).
What must we do for Beyonce?
It is very appropriate that we offer prayers for Beyonce. She has obviously sold her soul to the devil and is being used for everything against the will of God.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 says,
“1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
What shall it profit Beyonce if she gains this whole world and loses her soul? We must intercede for her and the family to come to saving faith whilst we avoid her music.
May the Lord give is discernment not to be deceived.
