“Control the Narrative”: Take Back Your God-Ordained Destiny – Bishop Mike Okonkwo at GW2025

2–3 minutes

Introduction

In a world flooded with misinformation, manipulated realities, and deceptive voices, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Founder and General Overseer of TREM, delivered a resounding message at Greater Works 2025 titled “Control the Narratives.”

Taking inspiration from 1 Kings 20:1–11 and James 4:7, Bishop Mike challenged believers to reclaim the narrative of their lives from the enemy’s manipulation and step fully into God’s divine agenda.

Key Highlights of the Sermon

With spiritual fervor, Bishop Mike read aloud from 1 Kings 20, where the king of Israel responded boldly to the enemy’s threats: “Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.” This defiant declaration became the foundation for Bishop Mike’s powerful teaching on resisting satanic intimidation.

He explained the concept of “truth illusion,” a media strategy where “falsehoods are presented long enough until they become accepted as truth.” Bishop Mike warned that the enemy uses this exact tactic—“Tell them something that is not true for a very long time, and as they keep believing it, it becomes their reality.” But God’s people must not yield their identity or destiny to lies.

He declared emphatically, “You are not an accident of birth. You are part and parcel of His glorious global agenda for humanity.” Citing Romans 8:29–30, he reminded the congregation that God predestined, called, justified, and glorified them. “Your colour, your future is already determined before you were born—and it is glorious.”

But the devil, he cautioned, always seeks to hijack the story. From Genesis 1 to the fall in Genesis 3, Bishop Mike traced how Satan subtly manipulates through words. Eve’s mistake, he said, wasn’t just eating the fruit—it was “going into unnecessary discussion with the devil when she should have taken charge of the narrative.”

Bishop Mike urged believers: “You have been empowered to succeed. Enough of failure. You have not been empowered to fail.” The command to be fruitful, multiply, subdue, and replenish the earth still stands. Every lie that says otherwise must be rejected.

He stirred the crowd with declarations: “Who stripped you of your glory? As a believer, you carry your glory. Christ in you—the hope of glory!” The hope, he explained, is “a joyful, confident expectation that it will turn out good.”

Conclusion

Bishop Mike concluded with a prophetic declaration: “By the mandate of heaven, I declare whatever has been spoken against your life that is negative—I declare them null and void. It will never stand.” He repeated with passion: “I will hear your testimony! I will hear your testimony!”

This is your moment to take back control. Stop allowing the enemy, society, or fear to write your story. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
