Rev. Harry Allotey: “Apologetics Is Not an Argument—It’s an Act of Love”

In the debut episode of Sincerely Unapologetic, Rev. Harry Allotey, Pastor-in-Charge of ICGC Cornerstone Temple, unpacked the meaning and purpose of Christian apologetics, urging believers to “defend the hope within them with humility and love.”

“The goal of apologetics,” he said, “is not to win an argument but to make a case for the credibility of what we believe.”

Drawing from 1 Peter 3:15, Rev. Allotey reminded Christians that their defence of the faith must reflect the spirit of Christ. “When we defend our faith, we’re not engaging in a shouting match,” he emphasized. “We make deposits in people’s hearts, and the Holy Spirit brings conviction.”

He explained that apologetics is essential for shaping culture, strengthening believers, and reaching unbelievers. “It helps Christians understand not just what they believe but why they believe it,” he noted. “Many remain silent because they fear objections, but apologetics gives you confidence to stand anywhere and defend your faith.”

Rev. Allotey encouraged believers to combine boldness with gentleness as they share their faith: “We must rise up and speak with clarity, courage, and conviction.”
