“Are You a Spectator or a Seeker?” — Pastor Otabil Draws a Line in the Church

In a thought-provoking message, Mensa Otabil challenged believers to examine their true position in their walk with Christ.

Referencing the Sermon on the Mount, he revealed that there were always two groups around Jesus: the crowd and the committed.

The multitude is made up of spectators… they are watching but not making any commitment,” he explained.

In contrast, he described disciples as seekers—those who pursue deeper understanding and transformation.

The disciples are not spectators. They are seekers. They drew close to Jesus to listen and learn,” he added.

Otabil made the distinction personal by asking, “In this multitude… are you a spectator or a seeker?

He emphasized that many attend church for inspiration, miracles, or routine, but few commit to learning and living the teachings of Christ.

The message struck a chord with the congregation, urging believers to move from passive observation to active pursuit of spiritual growth.
