At a recent Ministers Conference, Bishop David Oyedepo gave ministers and church leaders a rare insight into the reading culture and study discipline that shaped his ministry over the decades, as he showcased sections of his personal home library filled with heavily used Christian books and ministry materials.

Speaking passionately about the power of knowledge and spiritual growth, Bishop Oyedepo stressed that success in ministry is deeply connected to consistent learning and faith-building through books. According to him, “Faith comes by hearing and understanding. It doesn’t jump on people. People grow their faith.”

The renowned preacher revealed that he bought his first Christian book at the age of 20 and described how one particular book, Second Touch, greatly influenced his spiritual journey. He emphasized that owning books alone is not enough, declaring: “It’s not the buying. It’s the consumption, the consumption, the consumption.”

Bishop Oyedepo also encouraged ministers to intentionally study ministry growth, revival, divine direction, and leadership principles. Showing several of his authored books, he explained that many of the lessons were drawn from lifelong personal diaries and experiences in ministry.

“We’re here to learn from one another,” he told participants while urging ministers to openly share discoveries that have strengthened their ministries.
