Renowned gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey has highlighted spiritual discipline as the backbone of impactful ministry.

In a revealing conversation on the Beneath the Surface Podcast, he stated, “I can’t expect a God to show up in the evening who I was not with in the morning.”

Bassey explained that consistency in fellowship with God is non-negotiable for anyone seeking spiritual depth. According to him, consecration involves both sacrifice and intentional pursuit: “Consecration is abstinence from and then application to.”

He clarified that abstinence does not always mean avoiding sinful things, but sometimes letting go of legitimate distractions for greater spiritual focus.

The Hallelujah Challenge convener emphasized that many believers misunderstand spiritual growth, expecting results without investment. He noted that intimacy with God produces spiritual substance that cannot be faked.

Bassey also warned against superficial ministry, stating that true power comes from time spent with God, not public performance.

His insights reinforce a timeless truth: spiritual authority is built in private before it is revealed in public.
