In a striking revelation, Pastor Mensa Otabil explained that the Sermon on the Mount was not addressed to the general crowd but to committed followers.
“The Sermon on the Mount is not a general teaching for everybody… it is for those who came up to Him,” he stated.
He explained that while multitudes gathered for miracles, only disciples received teachings that transformed their lives.
“Those who followed Him, He taught them… those spectating were watching the spectacular,” he added.
Pastor Otabil emphasized that many Christians today prefer miracles over discipline and teaching, which limits their spiritual growth.
He warned that the teachings of Jesus challenge deeply held beliefs and require a complete change in values and lifestyle.
“Christianity… is a system change,” he declared, describing the radical nature of Jesus’ message.
The message called believers to embrace the cost of discipleship and pursue genuine transformation.
