“Pray the Word, Not Your Pain” — Archbishop Duncan-Williams Reveals Key to Effective Prayer

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams delivered a striking teaching in his sermon “The Battle is Won and The Victory is Ours” using Jeremiah 1:12 and Psalm 103:20.

He boldly stated, “God does not watch over your tears… He watches over His Word to perform it.” This statement reframed how believers approach prayer.

Referencing the Bible, he explained that angels respond not to emotions but to God’s Word: “They hearken to the voice of His Word.”

The Archbishop warned against praying based on fear or need. “Don’t pray your pain. Don’t pray your fears. Pray the scriptures,” he emphasized.

He taught that presenting God’s Word in prayer activates divine intervention, as seen in Hebrews 1:14.

According to him, ineffective prayer often stems from misalignment with Scripture.

“When you speak your problems, you confuse the angels,” he said, urging believers to align their words with divine truth.

The message delivered a clear takeaway: spiritual results come from speaking and enforcing God’s Word, not emotional expression.
