In a bold statement during his sermon “Living the Kingdom Life – Pt. 2 (Who Can Get In?)”, Mensa Otabil clarified that church attendance alone does not guarantee salvation.
Preaching at ICGC Christ Temple East, he said: “Going to heaven has nothing to do with going to church.”
He explained that many believers equate religious activities with righteousness, but this is a misunderstanding of the gospel.
“It is not about where you go to… it has only to do with one thing—whether you have considered Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour,” he stated.
Otabil emphasized that salvation is based on faith in Christ’s finished work, not human effort. “He died for you… all we do is believe in Jesus.”
He warned against a mindset of accumulating spiritual points: “Every time you give or pray… you think you are scoring before God.”
The sermon concluded with a call to embrace grace and trust fully in Christ for salvation.
