“The Church Is Becoming Obsolete to Many Young People” — Apostle Joshua Selman Raises Alarm

Founder of Eternity Network International, Apostle Joshua Selman, has expressed concern over what he describes as the declining societal relevance of the church despite the increase in churches and Christian programmes across the world.

Speaking during a sermon, Selman noted that Africa currently has more churches, conferences, and online spiritual activities than ever before, yet society appears less influenced by the church than in previous generations.

“It seems to me as if there is a generation that is finally accepting that the church is an obsolete institution,” he said.

According to him, governments, institutions, and many young people no longer look to the church as a trusted voice for nation building and societal transformation. He warned that the church risks losing its influence if it fails to provide practical and transformational value to society.

Selman referenced developments in Europe and America, where many people still profess belief in God but no longer actively participate in church life. He attributed this partly to disappointment with ineffective teachings and leadership failures.

“In the name of Jesus in our lifetime, the church will not go down,” he declared passionately.

The preacher urged believers and church leaders to rethink ministry models and focus on restoring trust, relevance, and transformation.
