Apostle Joshua Selman has highlighted a growing trend where many people still believe in God but have lost confidence in the institutional church.
Using statistics and observations from the West, the Nigerian preacher said many individuals stopped attending church after the COVID-19 pandemic and never returned.
“At least 40% of Americans say they still believe in God, but they don’t believe in church again,” Selman stated.
He explained that many believers became disillusioned because years of church attendance and loyalty to spiritual leaders did not translate into practical transformation in their lives.
“Most of them found out that after committing their loyalty to a preacher for decades… those teachings failed to produce results,” he added.
Selman said many people now prefer entertainment events, football matches, and tech exhibitions over church gatherings because the church is increasingly viewed as disconnected from real-life challenges.
He challenged church leaders to rethink how ministry is presented to younger generations and stressed the importance of teachings that empower people spiritually and practically.
The preacher also encouraged believers who have been wounded or disappointed by church experiences not to abandon their faith journey completely.
