On the Godman Akinlabi Podcast hosted by Nigerian pastor Godman Akinlabi, special guest, Ibukun Awosika, delivered a strong warning about modern culture’s obsession with visibility without substance. She explained that while visibility can create influence, not every visible person deserves the power to shape people’s lives.

“Being visible makes you have the capacity to be influential,” she said. “But there are many people that are visible, and they must pass certain tests for us to consider them as being positive influence.”

Speaking on the growing influencer culture, Awosika stressed that influence has now become “a tradable product,” making discernment more important than ever. She urged parents and young people to carefully evaluate who they follow online and not mistake popularity for credibility.

“We must be more deliberate and intentional about the people that we then open ourselves to, to have the power of influence over our lives and over the lives of our children,” she emphasized.

Awosika also warned about fake lifestyles on social media, saying many online personalities project manufactured identities that do not reflect reality. According to her, believers and leaders must develop wisdom to “separate wheat from chaff.”

The conversation challenged listeners to pursue authentic influence rooted in integrity, responsibility, and truth rather than mere online attention.
