“God has given it to you, but you must rise and take it.”
Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of ICGC, has challenged Christians to move beyond wishful thinking and actively pursue the promises God has already made available to them, declaring that divine blessings require intentional action rather than passive expectation.
Preaching a sermon titled “Arise and Take What God Has Given You,” Pastor Otabil explained that throughout Scripture, God repeatedly commanded His people to arise before possessing what He had already promised them. Drawing from Genesis 13, Deuteronomy 2, Joshua 8, and Judges 7, he highlighted a consistent biblical pattern in which God’s promises were followed by human responsibility.

“We must know what God has given to us, and we must take what God has given to us.”
According to him, many believers live without certainty about God’s promises, hoping circumstances will somehow improve without exercising faith-filled obedience. He stressed that although God completes His work in the spiritual realm, believers must bring those realities into practical experience through action.
“God says, ‘I have given it to you.’ It is done. Rise and take it.”
Pastor Otabil explained that the word “arise” means standing upright to accept responsibility, showing up to do the required work, and establishing God’s purposes in everyday life. He warned that Christians should never become passive concerning God’s blessings because every divine promise demands participation.
His message encouraged believers to replace fear, hesitation and complacency with courageous obedience, insisting that faith is demonstrated through deliberate action rather than mere confession.
