ACCRA, Ghana — Reverend David Rich Paha, Lead Pastor of ICGC Discovery Temple, has challenged Christians to focus more on developing godly character than chasing opportunities, insisting that spiritual growth and personal discipline determine whether believers are ready for greater assignments.
Speaking on The Real Talk Show hosted by Dr. Evelyn Paha, Rev. Paha explained that becoming who God intends is a lifelong process that requires continuous refinement.
“I believe for anybody to become, at least you have to have some inner drivers—something within that you are pursuing. Until you have inner drivers, you cannot become,” he said.
The pastor admitted that even after years in ministry, God is still shaping his character.
“I think once we are human beings, the process of reformation cannot end,” he stated.
Rather than emphasizing gifts or titles, Rev. Paha pointed to discipline as one of the greatest determinants of success.
“Sometimes the discipline for you to keep grinding and becoming is difficult because other things compete for the same time. That discipline is what kills plenty people.”
According to him, many believers possess tremendous potential but never develop the habits necessary to fulfil God’s purpose.
He stressed that delayed progress is often linked to inadequate preparation rather than God’s unwillingness to bless.
“So long as you’ve not hit your target yet, it means you’re working to achieve it. If you cannot achieve it, either God’s timing is not right, you’re not prepared, or you don’t yet have the capacity.”
Rev. Paha encouraged Christians to embrace lifelong learning by becoming better readers, thinkers and disciplined followers of Christ.
“The more you know, the better you become.”
He concluded that personality development is inseparable from spiritual maturity, adding that God prepares people internally before elevating them publicly.
